Rebecca Totterdell

Violin

Rebecca Totterdell is a violinist with the orchestra of Welsh National Opera and teacher of violin at the RWCMD Junior Department. She studied with the acclaimed Russian teacher Sergei Fatkoulin in Madrid, before embarking on a career as a freelance musician, which culminated in her appointment with WNO. She has also worked with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, and the orchestras of English National Ballet, English National Opera, and of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

Rebecca is an experienced teacher, having taught the violin for more than twenty years in both the state and private sector. She is a passionate advocate of high quality music education for children and regularly undertakes projects which bring classical music to those who might never otherwise encounter it.

Rebecca is also a trained Yoga teacher, specialising in classes for musicians as well as running her own public teaching practice. She is committed to the idea that artists must look after their bodies as well as their minds, and her yoga training often inspires her teaching and musical ethos.
