Rosalind Acton

Rosalind Acton persues an active performing career as a freelance cellist, working both in opera and symphony orchestras as well as frequently in various chamber ensembles.
She studied in Bremen with Alexander Baillie and at the Royal Academy of Music with Mats Lidstrom. Her orchestral work has included performances with the Royal Northern Sinfonia, Britten Sinfonia, BBC Concert Orchestra and WNO Orchestra. She has worked with the Villiers Quartet and Indian folk singer Moushumi Bhowmik, as well as the Bengali band, Khiyo.
She plays an 1820 English cello by Samuel Gilkes.
